Help us get on the radio!
We submitted our song "Running From The Scene" to this thing called NEW!, which could allow us to get some radio airplay.
Here's the catch: we need YOUR help!
The folks at NEW! only look at how many times we get played on their system (because it's ad supported... You know how corporate America is).
Please go here:
http://www.foxrocks.com/cc-common/artist_submission/player.html?art=203545You can only have one countable play per load (meaning if you go back to the beginning of the player it doesn't count... You have to refresh/reload the page if you want to listen again), and you have to listen to the entire song and let it end on it's own.
I know - it seems like there's an awful lot of rules to something that should be an art based thing...
BUT IT WOULD REALLY HELP US!!
Thanks - you are all wonderful!

Rawk Bisquettes
With so much travel time on the road lately, we have learned that we like our smorgasbord of songs with a side of rawk bisquettes. Rawk Bisquettes are the nice little tastys that come with playing each different place. They are the beautiful things that we haven't experienced on the road or just rarely come across. In our show yesterday we played the Rockdale Festival and were allowed to have an awesome little trailer (green room)to hang out in....provided by the lovely Vicki, who took good care of us. The show was fun and we even got to rock out a few new songs as well.
Along the line of R B, we also were able to ride the GRAVITRON. A first for Roo and Hilde, it proved to be quite a rush. After some good ol' brotherly reassurance from my band mates that I wouldn't throw up, I plunged forward into the dark unknown. I was glad I did and I think Hilde was glad he did too. David, Matt, and I came off first to immediately get into "football position" and rush the jeffs to bring them too the ground,...but with a stroke of compassion, we decided to wait till another time.
We are working on some new songs that are going to blow yo' alls minds in a few weeks. Raindrops has hints of punk, with orchestral hits, and a killer drum patter that will seriously rock your faces off. We also have another smooth song coming your way, so keep your ears open for some new Bloomin' Audible Bliss! OK, gotta go do some wedding planning....I'm getting married in 3 weeks to the most unbelievable woman and I can't wait.
Peas to all you guys and gals,

Burn the ships
I just started writing a new blog, and apparently I accidently closed the window, losing what I wrote. Awesome.
We had some great shows this past weekend - Nashville on Friday with Starlume and Jonathan Balas - it would definitely be worth your time to check them out! Saturday we were in Tullahoma at K Street, and it was awesome! The crowd there really got into it, and it gave us a lot of energy on stage. We made some new friends, and we hope to be back there soon!
History lesson for the day: when Spanish Explorer/Conquistador Hernando Cortez first landed in Mexico in 1519, he ordered his men to burn the ships that they came on. Why? He wanted no plan B. He came over with the intention of thriving in this new land, and if there was always an option of going back to the comfort of their homes, his men would grumble about retreat once things started getting difficult.
Those of us in the band (and most in America) have been incredibly fortunate. We've grown up into great families, had great educations, have solid "job options", and live in a successful country (even if the stock market is down). But sometimes that's bad. This music thing is difficult, and it's easy for us retreat back to consistent paychecks and comfortable beds. But that's not what we're here for. We must burn the ships. We must lose plan B. Retreat is not an option.
I love these lyrics to John Reuben's "Make Money Money":
Put our art in the place Where it's forced to succeed The place where your hobbies and the real world meet Forty minute walks to work to bus tables full time With a pair of headphones on to block out traffic going by Forty minute walks back to make music all night With a pair of headphones on to block out my life
We have to do this.

A Month of Firsts
Since we last posted, tons of things have happened. To everybody that we've met along the road...thank you so much for coming out to our shows and spending some time with us. Getting to play in front of people has got to be one of the greatest feelings in the world. Really, there aren't many other reasons why we're doing this. So come out as often as you can, and please, don't forget to say hi and let us know what's be going down with you.
Quick side note: When we were in New Castle we got to play at a venue called the Building. During our set, we blasted the system so loud that, literally, pieces of the ceiling were falling on us as we played. So I guess, technically, we almost rocked the place to down. I couldn't help but laugh when we were finished because there were little bits of debris all over our equipment and the stage. To date, this was the first time our music actually became dangerous. In fact, we were so loud, a guy living in the apartments across the street could hear us. After the show he told us that he HAD to come and see what was going on...if I'm not mistaken, he bought a CD before he left because he said he dug what he was hearing through his walls. Now that's just cool.
Moving on...a couple of weeks ago we had the privilege of being interviewed on 89.1 WNAZ. It's a station affiliated with Trevecca University. One of the station's DJ's, MJ, was kind enough to call us up after we sent her a copy of the EP to hopefully get some airplay. Not only did it get played, but it somehow landed us the chance to be a featured band during one of their weekly segments for local artists. The entire process was incredibly fun, seeing as it was Manic Bloom's very first radio interview. In my opinion, the highlight of the hour had to of been when we got to perform a song live, right there in the studio....or maybe it was when we helped MJ figure out the riddle that's written on the EP disc. She seemed fascinated by the idea of our secret section on manicbloom.com. Either way, our time there flew by. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to hear the interview yet, but from what people have told us, it all went over pretty well. So, again, we want to say thanks to WNAZ and MJ for giving us a platform to hopefully spread some more MB over Nashville.
Yesterday brought another first-time experience for the band as well. Sometime around 5pm, David, Brink, and I were interviewed on channel 43 WKAG in Hopkinsville, TN. Yep, we were on TV, baby!! It was all a part of the city's promotional effort for the Fall Fun Fest that is happening there on Sept. 27. Another quick note of coolness...we were told sometime before the interview that we were going to be the headlining act at the festival. That will also be something we've yet to do as a band. So, naturally, we are all very much looking forward to playing that day.
We've been working on some new songs lately so hopefully in the coming weeks we'll get to play them for you. So keep your eyes and ears peeled because you never know when something might pop up on our myspace page. Also, as soon as we get a copy of the radio interview, we'll try and put it up on our page for you to hear.
Thanks again for all the support. Drop us a line anytime...we are always interested in what's going on with you.

Gaseous Overload
Personally speaking, I'm just now recovering from our weekend mini-tour to Memphis and Mt. Juliet. 3 shows in 3 days, little amounts of sleep, and lots of driving in a not-so-spacious car filled with 4 other dudes (even though they're my best mates) can take it out of you. But you know what they say...those of you who can stink together, can make music together...or something along those lines. Honestly, I'm still a bit light headed.
As far as the shows went, I feel we handled all the adversity quite well. If is wasn't a small stage, it was a sound or personnel problem, if it wasn't that, it was David constantly singing background vocals to our conversations. Well, that last one ended up being pretty funny. You may or may not see a video in the near future concerning it.
We did get to go to a pretty fabulous deli on Saturday afternoon. "Young Avenue Deli" was the name, if I'm not mistaken, and it had some pretty killer food. Not to mention a very nice stage on which to perhaps play a little MB if you know what I'm smelllin'. We talked to some of the folks that worked there about us possibly coming back to play a show...they listened to our pleas, we were grateful. If it happens, who knows, maybe we'll get some free sandwiches. Which in my book is as good as money.
Quick side note: our delicatessen enjoyment was highlighted that day by the company of a super cool dude named Rich. We met him the previous night at our Murphy's show. He was from Canada. Yeah, I know, but seriously, everything else about him was great. : ) Rich, you're the man, brah. Seriously hope to see you again. Thanks for spending some time with us. We're better for it.
If there was anything that I pulled away from this weekend it was that I've totally underestimated the power of music. What I mean is that I kept finding myself fretting over things that, in the end, were out of my control. Things that would seriously sike me out before we'd go on to play. But it seemed that ever time we hit that first note of "Running From The Scene" it all just faded away. So much so that it became just as much of a challenge to NOT get TOO excited. I can't tell you how many times that's happened.
Either way, I'm seeing through experience now why music is so vital to, not only us as a band, but to humanity. It's transcendent. It not only cuts through our emotions, but it has the power to steer them too. This weekend, I was generally pretty mad before the start of each set. But without fail, a few minutes in...and it was like Christmas morning. I couldn't stop smiling.
Perhaps there is something bigger at work to which we're not privy. A beautiful mystery if you ask me.

Chinese Gold Standard
So I was watching the Olympics last night and something hit me. China kept winning medals in Women's Gymnastics and it's pretty obvious to the world that some of the girls they're using are probably 12-14 years old (the requirement is that you turn 16 the year of the Olympics). The announcers mention it almost every time one of the little girls get up. They're like, "Now I know everybody at home is right now questioning how old these Chinese gymnasts are." I'm sitting at home like, "You're freaking right I am!" I'm interested to see if they're going to try to keep up the charade in four years when these girls are going to supposedly be 20 years old and will actually finally look like they're 16. They'll probably just get a whole new set of 13 year olds from their concentration training camps so that they don't have to deal with the issue.
As I was watching though, I started to ask myself, "What's the purpose of China cheating?" When it all comes down to it, what is a country trying to do by winning medals at the Olympics…gain respect and prove their country's skill on the world stage, right? So if you're gonna cheat…and the WHOLE WORLD is gonna know it (come on, who are they kidding?)…I don't really think you're gaining the respect of your competing nations.
Then, China did the same thing with the way they prepared Beijing for the games. They shipped all the homeless out of the city, shut down family-run businesses, restaurants, and manufacturing facilities (putting tons of people out of work), arrested protesters (just for applying for a protesting permit, which they said would be allowed), etc. Apparently, they thought the world would be most impressed by a clean city and gold medals, and not by a country that actually treats their citizens with respect.

Road Ready!
Hello to our loyal and trusty Bloomers! This past week has been crazy for all 5 of us. We have laughed, we have cried, and some of us even took pictures....this was all of course over Hilde losing his Mullet. I have to say that we all enjoyed it while it lasted, but like most great and revered things,... some must die to become even greater. Some of you know what I mean....right?
We finally got a chance to review our show at NewSong last week and what a great time we had with all of our new and old fans. We also have spent some time in The Dungeon writing some new songs that hopefully most of you will get to hear in the next month or two.
The most exciting news coming this next month is the road events. We are going to be heading to Memphis, TN this weekend to play at Murphy's and also for a Muscular Dystrophy event on Saturday. Sunday following Memphis from Friday and Saturday we will be in Mount Juliet at the Center Coffee House. We are looking forward to rocking out with Knapsack Heros, Salient, Pengea, and Greenside Manner. After this weekend we head off to Indianapolis to enjoy some ol' time fun in the Hoosier State. We will be playing at Locals Only in Indy on Friday and then The Building in New Castle on Sunday for a Big Back to School Bash. So, needless to say in the next 16 days Mario and Link are going to be getting lots of workouts on my Nintendo DS. You know what I'm Sayin'!
We also celebrated our great friend and confidant, Chris Cotton's birthday this week with some excellent Mediterranean food and some great time of fellowship with family and industry friends.
Lastly, I have to say that Hilde, Brink and I really, really enjoyed a night on the town last night at the BMI 8 off 8th and saw one of the HUGE advantages of living in the Music City. We saw some great bands like Biscuits and Gravy and Brandy Sellerz. Check it out....they were really tight....but as for now, that is your update from the best 5 piece rock band that starts with an "M" and ends with "anic Bloom" I hope you are all doing well and we want to hear from you more than you know, so please send us comments and e-mails and we will get back to you asap.
Love you all,
Andy-Roo

Newsong
Well, Saturday was a crazy day, but worth every drop of sweat. The heat was intense while we were playing, but seeing all of you guys out in the audience jammin' with us made it so easy. Newsong was amazing and we all had a great time. Luke, Fudge'ems, and Whitney and everyone else we hung out with was super cool. This weekend makes me want to go back up to KY as soon as possible because of the great people we met there. Thanks for supporting us!
We DEFINITELY want every photo and video that you all took of us! Send them in and we'll put them up on the site. Its great too to see some profile pictures being changed.... thanks go to Hulio and the rest of y'all. If you want to see yourself up on the page with the band, then send those photos and videos in!
I think for now I (Jeff the drummer) and the rest of the guys will chill for a bit before we finish out the busy month. We're looking forward to some shows in Memphis and Indy later on. We'd love to see some familiar faces when we go to Mt Juliet and Hopkinsville. Come see us if you can!
Thanks again to all of you who saw us and rocked with us. It wouldn't have been the same.

Strange Dream + The Weekend
Hey kids!
I had a strange dream on Saturday night... I dreamed that I dreamed (catch that?) that we were on Conan O'Brien and something really wacky happened (that I don't remember). Anyhow, I woke up (not really - still in my dream) and blogged about it because it was really funny. Later in the actual day (when I was really awake) I looked back on it, wondering if I'd really blogged and not remembering what was in fact so funny. Random...
The weekend was good - spent some time with my in-laws: fishing, canoeing, video games with my bro-in-law... Interesting how I haven't fished in years and years, and I've gone twice in the last month. We were going after trout on Saturday, and I threw back two or three that apparently were big enough to keep. I was sad. I like trout. Eating it.
We've got a festival show this coming weekend, kicking off a pretty busy month (5 shows - possibly 6, 2 radio interviews...). Hopefully this is the flavor of things to come!
Thanks for your support! We wouldn't be able to do any of this without you!
