Finally Mixing the goods

Just wanted to give everybody a heads up on our progress. We've finished recording everything and today was the first moment that we've had time to sit down and actually work on the mixing.

We've been going at it for the last 6 hours or so and let me say that the time has flown by. Hopefully with the progress we made today, the following few days will go by a little more smoothly since we've been able to hone in on and bring out a lot of the great tonal qualities of our recordings. Matt, David and Brink are very adept in the technicalities of recording, so it's great to have people with vested interest actually behind the board bringing out the most of each song. Just in the few minutes it's taken me to write this, Matt has done some things that have taken the overall sound of TWISG from a 6 to about a 9. So that's incredibly encouraging.

We're hoping to have all five songs done within the next week and a half. Then it's off to the mastering studio. This is all very exciting considering the fact that we've never really had anything mastered before. The songs, at least in our own opinion, sound pretty great as is. But, getting to master them will take things to whole new level.

We've been discussing EP names and have narrowed things down to three pretty appropriate titles. All five songs are fairly dark, lyrically that is, so the name might be as well. We think we know what we want but as with many things in life, that could change. Sitting here now I realize that this whole ordeal has been a long time coming... quite overdue to say the least.

About two weeks ago we went out with a Nashville based photographer and got some pretty cool press shots. One of those you can see now as our new profile pic. She had us try a bunch of cool things and in the end, we got some pictures that I think we're all pretty proud of. Once the EP drops, we'll put up a new myspace layout and post some of the new pics. Hopefully then we'll be well on our way to doing this full-time. Gotta be honest, trying to make an album AND work 40+ hours a week at a job you can't stand isn't exactly light and fluffy.
