Dashboard Confessional and New Found Glory
Posted by Matt on Dec 18, 2009 @ 8:15am

Last night, I went to Atlanta to see Dashboard Confessional and New Found Glory.  I’ve been listening to Dashboard Confessional a lot lately, especially their album that just came out.  This was the first time I had ever seen them live though, and the performance was nothing short of amazing.  Chris Carrabba has energy, passion, and a range to rival Freddy Mercury.  His lyrics are poetic, his songs are melodic, and his emotions are honest.  If you have a chance to see them, you should.  Just don’t pay attention to the swooning girls all around you.  In fact, for all you single guys out there, forget going to the grocery store to pick up chicks.  Head to your local Dashboard concert.

Now, I hadn’t listened to New Found Glory in quite awhile, but they used to be one of my favorite bands.  So when they played many of my old favorite songs, I had a blast.  They even played my favorite song off their first album, which I ended up being one of the only ones singing along with.  I’ll admit, that made me feel kinda cool.  The funniest part about last night though was that it was an acoustic set for both bands.  If you’ve listened to New Found Glory, you’re probably as surprised with the idea of them playing acoustic as I was, but it ended up being really good.  It inspired me to try and get Manic Bloom to work up an acoustic version of our set.  We’ll have to work on that after the album’s done though.
All in all, it was a great concert experience to rival some of my favorites.

If out of all the concerts you’ve been to you had to pick one favorite, what would it be, and why?  And we know that probably everybody’s answer would be Manic Bloom (obviously), but for this we’ll exclude The Bloom from the running.

Here's the setlist for the show last night. http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/dashboard-confessional/2009/the-loft-atlanta-ga-33d70c45.html  And for that matter, there were no Manic Bloom setlists posted on that site.  Sad :-(
